Santa Eugenia I-II

History of Santa Eugenia I and II

The Santa Eugenia dam was in 1988, with a height of 87 m and a crest length of 280m. Santa Eugenia I and Santa Eugenia II plants both benefit from this dam to produce energy.

Power plant facilities

  • Two vertical axis Francis type turbines with an equipped volume flow of 26 m3/s each. The turbine were manufactured in 1987 and is designed for providing a nominal active power of 49,072 KW
  • Two generators with a power of 55 MVA and a power factor of 0.9 are connected to the turbines, which means that the plant's active power is 49,50 MW. The generator's speed of rotation is 428.57 rpm
  • The alternators in the Santa Eugenia plants generate the electricity at a voltage of 13.8 KV. This voltage is then increased to 66 KV in the substation attached to the plant's building. The substation has two independent transformers (one for each set) with a transformation ratio of 13.5/66 KV and a power of 55.000 KVA each

Location

The plants can be accessed by the road DP-2308. Closest locality is O Ézaro just 1.4km away and Santiago de Compostela is about 70km away.

The nearest International airport is located in A Coruña located at 93km of distance.
