Puente Olveira

History of Puente Olveira

The plant consist on a composed open flow diversion channel, with the water flowing through a dam, an intake construction, a diversion tunnel, load chamber, penstock plant and the pipes discharging to the river.

The dam was built in 1966 and it is 26 m high and the crest is 107 m long.

Power plant facilities

  • Two double regulated Kaplan turbines with a twin design for a volume of flow of 8 m3/s and a head of 20.8 metres
  • The installed alternators have an apparent power of 1,800 KVA each for a cost of 0.7, which means that the active power of both generators is 2,700 ¬†KW
  • The plant's electricity generator transmits the electricity to the substation outside, situated next to the plant's building
